Ventilation, Filters & Climate

Climate and Plants

You should have control over the climate of your plants to achieve optimal plant growth and yield. The VPD table plays a central role in getting the important parameters in the right proportion.

Why do you need inlet and outlet air for your indoor grow?

You can find everything you need for good ventilation of your grow box with us.
Good climate control is essential for healthy plant growth as it supports efficient photosynthesis. Additionally, you can neutralize annoying odors by integrating an activated carbon filter into your exhaust. It should be noted that the exhaust air must be stronger than the inlet air to ensure a negative pressure in the growing space. This prevents unfiltered scent molecules from escaping, which should actually be filtered out by the activated carbon filter. In small grow boxes, no active inlet air is usually used, but negative pressure is generated exclusively with the exhaust fan. With larger grow boxes, many gardeners use small active inlet air fans. If you consider all of these factors, there is nothing standing in the way of a safe grow and a high-yield harvest in terms of climate.

What role does climate control play for plants?

Plants derive energy in the form of glucose through photosynthesis, which in turn provides energy for all of life's chemical processes.

During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen using light energy. If you have a rough understanding of this process, you will understand why proper climate control of your grow tent is so important. On the one hand, oxygen is a waste product that must be removed along with the heat generated by the lighting to prevent oxygen enrichment and overheating. Carbon dioxide is like food for the plant and must be ensured through good fresh air supply, especially for longer growth periods with additional inlet air fans. The mixing of these gases is facilitated by the circulating fans, which support gas exchange on the leaves. In addition to removing odor molecules, the exhaust air removes oxygen, heat, and water from the air.

With LED lighting, a cold problem can arise in winter if the LEDs do not produce enough waste heat. This slows down growth, which reduces your yield per unit time. In this case, we recommend installing a temperature-controlled infrared heater from Solea, which provides your plants with a constant optimal temperature.

That's why circulating air is so important!

In addition to gas exchange, circulating air is involved in other important processes. On the one hand, your plants are strengthened by the wind, leading to stronger stems. This makes them capable of carrying the heavy flowers and fruits that they develop in the flowering stage. This happens through mechanical stimulation when the wind shakes the plants. On the other hand, the root growth is stimulated because the plant wants to protect itself from the wind through stronger anchoring in the soil. This not only improves <>

Why do you need to control the climate of your plants?

To achieve optimal plant growth and yield, it's important to have control over the climate of your plants. The VPD (vapor pressure deficit) table plays a central role in balancing the most important parameters.

Why do you need intake and exhaust fans for your indoor grow?

At our store, you can find everything you need for good ventilation of your grow tent. Proper ventilation is essential for healthy plant growth, as it supports efficient photosynthesis. In addition, you can neutralize unpleasant odors by integrating an activated carbon filter into your exhaust system. Note that the exhaust system should be stronger than the intake to create a negative pressure in the growing area. This prevents unfiltered scent molecules from escaping, which should be filtered out by the carbon filter. For small grow tents, an active intake fan is usually not necessary, as negative pressure can be achieved solely with the exhaust fan. For larger tents, many growers use small active intake fans. If you take all these factors into consideration, nothing will stand in the way of a safe grow and a bountiful harvest in terms of climate.

What role does climate play for plants?

Plants gain energy in the form of glucose through photosynthesis, which in turn provides energy for all chemical processes of life. During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen by means of light energy. Understanding this process is crucial to understanding why proper climate control in your grow tent is so important. Oxygen is a waste product that must be transported away, along with the waste heat from lighting, to prevent oxygen buildup and overheating. Carbon dioxide, on the other hand, is like food for the plant and must be supplied through good fresh air circulation. For longer plant growth periods, this is achieved through additional intake fans. The mixing of these gases is facilitated by circulation fans, which support gas exchange at the leaves. The exhaust system removes not only odor molecules, but also oxygen, heat, and water vapor from the air. During the winter months, LED lighting may not produce enough waste heat, which can lead to growth slowdowns and lower yield. In this case, we recommend installing a temperature-controlled infrared heater from Solea, which provides your plants with a constant optimal temperature.

Why is air circulation so important?

Air circulation is involved in several important processes in addition to gas exchange. For one, your plants will be strengthened as they develop stronger stems through exposure to wind. This allows them to support the heavy flowers and fruits that they develop during the flowering stage. This happens through the purely mechanical stimulus of the wind shaking the plants. Additionally, air circulation stimulates root growth because the plant will protect itself against wind through stronger anchoring in the soil. This improves plant stability and nutrient uptake. Another important factor is transpiration.
